Once again our public safety community has undergone a busy year. These men and women continue to safeguard our community by putting their lives on the line. But despite these difficulties, the women and men of our public safety departments have done more with less; and they have made our city safer. We celebrate all public safety men and women who work for us in Alexandria; they truly are an amazing group.
As business people, the nature of our business is that we don’t normally think when we go to work that we might lose our lives in the process of just doing our jobs. For the men and women we are honoring, that reality hangs over their heads, and their families’, every day, as they go about their work protecting each of us, and our community. The recent losses in our neighboring jurisdictions are a grim reminder of this fact. This is why it is our privilege here at the Chamber to continue to honor those in Alexandria who risk their lives to keep Alexandria safe.
We especially salute the 21 brave women and men who showed exceptional poise and courage in extraordinary circumstances this past year. Their acts of valor have meant the difference between life and death for some of our citizens and the difference between a safe, growing community and a dangerous one.
We hope you will join us on April 26 to honor these 21 heroes. The event will begin at 11:30am when lunch will be served. For more information, please visit www.alexchamber.com.
